Come visit Deer Meadow Farm during Massachusetts Maple Weekend!!

Our farm will be open to the public this weekend from 9 AM-5 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Come see the sugar house and syrup making equipment, try a warm syrup sample and buy the best locally made syrup you can find!  See first-hand how maple syrup is made and take part in a New England tradition!

If time permits, we will give tours of the sugar bush. Please wear appropriate footwear if you’d like to see this aspect of the operation. The woods are rocky, muddy and snowy!

Be careful on your drive up the driveway. We have lots of wildlife that cross the driveway and on boiling weekends there may be more automobile traffic than normal.

We look forward to seeing you!!

Deer Meadow Farm is a small, family-run operation with a deep passion for crafting delicious, high-quality maple syrup. Our dedication is evident in the syrup’s exceptional quality, which has earned numerous awards at various Massachusetts state fairs. The farm is owned and operated by Rich Julian and his wife Debbie, along with their daughter Kylee, and close family friend Aime Bresse. Currently marking their 10th year of maple syrup production.

The farm spans 66 acres, with over 7 acres currently tapped for sap. The sap is collected entirely through tubing, mostly gravity-fed, with a few air-driven homemade soda pumps used to transport sap to a collection point near road access. We tap around 500 trees and plan to expand in the coming years. We currently produce roughly 80 – 85 gallons annually.

We take great pride in being the first – and only – farm in the state certified by the Massachusetts Audubon Society as a Bird Friendly Maple Producer. This certification reflects our commitment to sustainable forest management, promoting not only maple syrup production but also preserving bird habitats and supporting other wildlife. Our efforts align with the recognition as a stewardship-level farm in Massachusetts Tree farm Program.

Throughout the syrup season, we post our boiling dates and open house hours on our Facebook page. We offer tours of the sugarhouse and the woods operation, weather permitting, and always have warm syrup and maple cream sandwiches on hand. We also produce a limited batch of bourbon barrel aged maple syrup each year, which sells out quickly.

In addition to direct sales from the sugarhouse, we have recently started selling at local farmers’ markets with great success and hope to expand our reach to new markets in the area.

We are members of the Massachusetts Farm Bureau, American Tree Farm System, as well as Rich is currently on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Maple Producers Association.

Open most weekends in March. Call before coming out to be sure we’re boiling. Syrup sales off season by appointment.
